Over the last 10 years Grapevine has focused on reducing property tax by 8% to the lowest overall rate of a city our size in the DFW area. The local tax rate is .33244 per $100 of valuation and all property taxes that are applicable city wide total 2.14444 per $100 valuation, among the lowest in the region.

Sales and Use Tax

The total effective 2015 sales tax rate is 8.25%.  The total effective sales tax includes the State Sales and Use tax of 6.25%, City Sales and Use Tax of 2% of which 1% is for general municipal use, .5% is for a crime control district, .125% is for 4b economic development uses and .375% is for a 4b commuter rail system.  Sales Tax applies on the sale, lease, or rental of taxable items within Texas, while the Use Tax is a tax on the storage, use or other consumption of taxable items obtained outside the state and brought inside the state for use.
